Scobo (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates a mobile application that provides a real-time social sports prediction experience. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Scobo app.

Lawful Basis for Processing (EEA and UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following lawful bases:

  • Consent — for push notifications, analytics, and optional data collection
  • Performance of a contract — to provide the prediction game, leaderboards, and account management
  • Legitimate interests — for fraud prevention, app improvement, and security

3. Data Sources

Scobo integrates with third-party sports data providers, including the ESPN API, to deliver real-time match information. We do not control the data provided by these services.

Scobo also integrates with the YouTube API Services. By using video features within the app, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share information in the following cases:

a. Service Providers

We use trusted third-party services to operate the app:

  • Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging)

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.

b. Social Features

Your username, scores, and rankings may be visible to:

  • Friends you connect with
  • Other users in shared leagues

c. Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.

d. International Data Transfers

For users in the EEA and UK, we transfer personal data to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the UK-US Data Bridge, or where applicable, Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. You may request a copy of these safeguards by contacting us.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for the following periods:

  • Account data (email, username) — until account deletion plus 30 days
  • Gameplay data (predictions, scores) — until account deletion
  • Analytics and usage data — 26 months
  • Crash logs and diagnostics — 90 days
  • Push notification tokens — until opt-out or account deletion

You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 8).

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including secure cloud infrastructure provided by Firebase. However, no system is completely secure.

7. Children’s Privacy

Scobo is not intended for children under 13, or under 16 if you reside in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children in those age groups. If we learn that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You may:

  • Access or update your account information within the app
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of push notifications via device settings

9. International Users

Scobo may be used worldwide. Your data may be processed and stored in servers located outside your country, including the United States.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or other appropriate means.

11. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours and, where required by law, notify affected users without undue delay.
